One Piece Where The Fascia And Gutter Used To Be

Fascia gutters, sometimes called fascia-style or Fas-Cal, are a tall profile with a flat, vertical face that mounts directly to the rafter tails and takes the place of a separate fascia board. The result is a single straight line along the roof edge with no visible trough, which suits contemporary, mid-century modern and exposed-rafter homes. They are common in California and increasingly used on modern builds in Park City, Holladay and the Salt Lake east bench.

SwiftHand Gutters installs fascia gutters in five-inch and six-inch seamless aluminum. They are not the answer for every house: because the gutter is the fascia, a damaged section is a bigger repair, and the profile needs a roof edge that is straight and sound. When it fits, nothing else gives the same look.

What To Know Before You Choose

Where it fits. Homes with exposed rafter tails and no fascia board, modern designs with flat or low-slope roofs and wide overhangs, and remodels where the owner wants to remove a damaged fascia board rather than replace it.

Capacity. Fascia gutters hold about as much as K-style of the same size and take standard rectangular downspouts. Six-inch is recommended on long or steep eaves.

Snow and ice. The tall face is stiff, which helps under snow load, and heat tape installs normally. On metal roofs we add snow guards above the gutter line as with any profile.

Pricing

Fascia gutters run $12 to $18 per linear foot installed in aluminum, more than K-style because the profile uses more metal and the install takes more care. See the pricing page.

Compare the rest of the family: K-style, half-round, box and fascia gutters, five-inch vs six-inch, aluminum, steel and copper, and gutter colors. Or start at the gutter types overview.

FAQ

Common Questions

Can I put fascia gutters on a house that already has a fascia board?

Yes, mounted over the board, though the look is best on homes where the gutter is the fascia.

Slightly, because the front face is taller. Micro-mesh guards fit them and are a good pairing.

Yes, the same baked-on aluminum colors as K-style, with dark bronze, black and white the most common on modern homes.

We cut out and replace the section and reseal the splice. Because the gutter is structural trim, we recommend heavier gauge and snow guards where sliding snow is a risk.
