Canyon-mouth wind, a historic downtown and newer subdivisions on the west side. Thirty-five minutes from Sandy.

American Fork sits at the mouth of American Fork Canyon, and the wind and snow that come out of it shape every gutter job in the city. The east side and the bench toward Highland and Cedar Hills get the brunt of it; historic downtown around Main Street and the American Fork Tabernacle has homes from the early 1900s with original fascia; and the newer subdivisions west of I-15 toward Lehi and the lake are flat, windy and need drainage attention.
SwiftHand Gutters works American Fork weekly on our north Utah County route with Lehi, Highland, Alpine and Pleasant Grove. We hang gutters that stay attached in the canyon wind, repair fascia on older homes, and size bench homes for the snow.

The canyon wind comes first. Gusts down American Fork Canyon lift downspouts strapped at one point and work spike hangers loose, especially on the east side above 100 East and across the bench. We hang on screw hangers at sixteen-inch centers on exposed runs and strap downspouts at every elbow. Snow off the Wasatch piles on north-facing eaves on the bench, so six-inch gutters and heat tape are common recommendations there.
Downtown and the older east-side streets have homes with wood fascia and decades of patched gutters; we inspect and repair the board on every replacement. The newer west-side subdivisions mostly need builder gutters upsized, downspouts added and extensions or buried lines to keep water away from foundations on flat clay lots. American Fork’s older neighborhoods have mature trees that fill gutters twice a year, so guards or the maintenance plan come up often.
