The per-foot math, three sample homes priced out, and the line items that change the total.

Seamless aluminum gutters in the Salt Lake area cost $8 to $14 per linear foot installed, which puts a complete system on most homes between $1,800 and $3,800. That range covers five-inch and six-inch K-style, .032 gauge, hidden hangers, downspouts, corners, end caps, sealant and cleanup. Steel and copper cost more; tear-off of old gutters, fascia repair, guards and heat tape are separate lines.
This guide shows how we get to a number so you can estimate your own home before we come out. The math is simple: measure the eaves, count the downspouts, pick a size and material, and add anything extra the house needs.

Prices on this page are typical installed ranges for the Salt Lake area and are updated as material costs change. Your written estimate is the number that counts, and it is free.
Gutters are priced by the linear foot of eave, with downspouts priced each. The per-foot rate includes the gutter, hangers, corners, end caps, outlets, sealant, labor and cleanup. Walk your house and measure along every edge that water runs off; most single-story homes come to 120 to 180 feet, two-story homes 160 to 250 feet.
| Material and size | Installed per linear foot | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| Five-inch seamless aluminum | $8 to $12 | Most Utah homes, moderate roof pitch |
| Six-inch seamless aluminum | $10 to $14 | Steep roofs, long eaves, bench and mountain lots, metal roofs |
| Galvanized or Galvalume steel | $14 to $22 | Heavy sliding snow, metal roofs, commercial |
| Copper half-round | $35 to $60 | Historic and custom homes |
| Downspouts | $100 to $175 each | One per thirty to forty feet of gutter |
| Home | Gutter footage | Downspouts | Five-inch aluminum | Six-inch aluminum |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Single-story rambler, about 1,500 sq ft (Murray, Taylorsville, Orem) | 140 ft | 4 | $1,500 to $2,300 | $1,800 to $2,600 |
| Two-story, about 2,500 sq ft (Draper, Lehi, Layton) | 200 ft | 6 | $2,200 to $3,300 | $2,600 to $3,800 |
| Large two-story, about 4,000 sq ft (Highland, Holladay, Park City) | 280 ft | 8 | $3,000 to $4,600 | $3,600 to $5,300 |
Add $1 to $2 per foot for tear-off and disposal on a replacement, and add the extras below as needed. A Park City home that needs six-inch steel with heat tape can run twice the aluminum figure; a simple rambler in West Valley with no trees and a mild roof sits at the bottom of the range.
| Extra | Typical cost | When you need it |
|---|---|---|
| Old gutter removal and disposal | $1 to $2 per foot | Every replacement |
| Fascia repair | $8 to $20 per foot | Rot or soft wood found behind the old gutters |
| Micro-mesh gutter guards | $18 to $30 per foot | Trees over the roof, or you never want to clean again |
| Heat tape | $12 to $25 per foot of cable plus controller | Ice dams, north-facing eaves, bench and mountain homes |
| Buried downspout drainage | $300 to $700 per downspout | Wet basements, window wells, clay soil, no slope |
| Second and third story access | Built into the per-foot rate | Steep lots, roofs over decks, walk-out basements |
| Custom color coil | $1 to $2 per foot | Colors outside the standard twenty-five |
Gutter installation does not require a building permit in Utah cities for a like-for-like replacement, and new construction gutters are covered by the home’s building permit. HOA communities such as Daybreak, Traverse Mountain, SunCrest and the Park City design-review districts often restrict gutter color and sometimes profile; we bring the color ring and handle the approval paperwork. Utah code does require roof drainage to discharge away from the foundation, which is why every quote includes extensions or splash blocks.
What we do not recommend cutting: gauge, hanger type or downspout count. Those are the three things that decide whether the system lasts five Utah winters or twenty-five.
Seamless aluminum runs $8 to $14 per linear foot installed depending on size and gauge. Steel is $14 to $22 and copper $35 to $60.
Most two-story homes in the Salt Lake area have 180 to 220 feet of gutter and six downspouts, which lands between $2,200 and $3,800 in aluminum.
On steep or large roofs, bench and mountain lots and metal roofs, yes. The difference is usually $2 per foot, or a few hundred dollars on a whole house, and it is the difference between overflow and no overflow in spring melt.
Second-story work is built into the per-foot rate on most homes. Very steep lots, roofs over decks and three-story homes are quoted after a look.
Our rates do not change by season, but winter and mid-summer have more open days, so you may get on the schedule faster and we can sometimes bundle neighboring jobs.
Yes. Every quote lists gutter footage by size, downspouts by count, and extras as separate lines, so you can see exactly where the total comes from.
