Canyon wind, mid-century homes and the shaded eaves below Mount Olympus. Fifteen minutes from Sandy.

Millcreek sits at the mouth of Millcreek Canyon and under the west face of Mount Olympus, which gives it a particular set of gutter problems: canyon wind that comes down 3900 South in the night, cold shade on north-facing eaves, and a housing stock of fifties and sixties ramblers and split-levels in East Millcreek, Canyon Rim and the Mount Olympus neighborhoods that are on their second or third gutter system.
SwiftHand Gutters is fifteen minutes away and works Millcreek with Holladay and Salt Lake City. We replace original spike-hung gutters with hidden screw hangers, repair the fascia behind them, size up the main eaves and install heat tape where the shade keeps ice in the gutter until March.

The canyon wind is the first design problem. Downdrafts from Millcreek and Parleys canyons lift downspouts and work spikes loose along the east side of the city, so we hang Millcreek gutters on screw hangers at sixteen-inch centers and strap downspouts at every elbow. Lake-effect snow lands hard against the mountain, and the north and east eaves of homes in Canyon Rim and the Mount Olympus foothills stay frozen for weeks, so heat tape is a regular line on estimates there.
The second problem is age. Most of East Millcreek was built between 1950 and 1970, and the original gutters, fascia and soffit are often still in place under decades of patches. Replacement quotes always include a fascia inspection, and we carry primed board to replace rotted sections before the new gutters go up. Mature trees along Millcreek and the older streets mean cleaning twice a year or micro-mesh guards.
