Yes, if the metal around the seam is sound. We remove the old sealant completely, clean and dry the joint, and apply a tripolymer sealant designed for expansion and contraction. Resealed seams typically last 5 to 10 years.
Usually because they were hung with spikes and ferrules that loosen under snow load. Replacing spikes with screw-in hidden hangers on closer spacing solves it for good.
Either the pitch is off, the gutters are undersized for the roof area, or there are not enough downspouts. We measure and fix the actual cause rather than adding a guard that will not help.
